Robust Sharepoint Project Management Tools
The Sharepoint Project Management Template from Sync Task Software is similar to the popular Fabulous 40 Budgeting & Tracking Multiple Projects template that was once offered by Microsoft. It includes a familiar Gantt chart view for Project Tasks and a helpful project dashboard to quickly visualize any project issues at a glance. In fact, our template allows you to manage multiple projects in much the same way as the Fabulous 40 template did, with four major (and welcome) differences.:
1. Our template is built from the ground-up in Sharepoint 2010. It is not a hack-up of a WSS 3.0 or MOSS 2007 solution. Everything has been built from scratch in Sharepoint 2010. Because of this, our template also works with Office 365.
2. Our template is easily installed by simply uploading the .wsp file to your Solution Gallery. There are no Command Line or PowerShell procedures and no complex prerequisites to install. Simply put, our template is easy to install and “just works”.
3. All of the lists in our template connect to Outlook. This includes the Project Tasks, Issues and Milestones lists, which did not connect to Outlook in the Fabulous 40 template. Each of these Sharepoint lists shows up as a separate task list in Outlook.
4. Our Project Tasks list syncs with MS Project. Our Project Tasks list also supports summary tasks, allowing you to group related tasks in Sharpoint and sync with your summary tasks in MS Project.
Our Sharepoint project management template allows you to manage your projects in a familiar environment (Sharepoint and Outlook) while addressing all of the drawbacks of the now-defunct Fabulous 40 template.
Manage Projects Online in Sharepoint or Offline in Outlook
You may update all of your lists from Sharepoint or Outlook (including the Sharepoint Project Tasks, Issues and Milestones Lists) and the changes will sync the next time you perform a Send/Receive in Outlook.
This means that you can work on your projects offline and upload all of your changes to the Sharepoint site by performing a Send/Receive in Outlook. These changes will flow through to the various Sharepoint Project lists and chart views automatically.
Manage Project Tasks Online in Sharepoint or Offline in MS Project
In addition to being able to sync your project tasks with Outlook, our template allows you to sync project tasks with MS Project. Changes made in Sharepoint flow to your project in MS Project and vice versa. In addition, our template supports Summary Tasks which sync to your MS Project summary tasks and allow you to group related project tasks in Sharepoint.
